Rockshox totem coil service

I struggled to find any info on servicing my fork so i thought id post some instructions up.

Firstly dont try this if you have any doubts because you dont want to ruin tour fork. If you break your fork its not my fault you should send it to your LBS as you probably shouldn't have tried it yourself any way. Its really easy to service a totem.

Oils:

5wt fork oil.i use a 3wt oil in the winter as the lighter weight allows the fork to operate as usual but in colder conditions.

15wt oil for speed lube aplication.


1st Step

Remove the oil from the bottom of the fork. unscrew the little screws at the bottom of your fork. there are two. one on each side.
Then turn your fork the right way round and leave to drain in a tub or bucket for a thew minutes. Be careful you dont loose the little O-rings.



2. Next remove the mission control knobs. Ensure that the floodgate know is open. it will be sticking up when open. there are two secure screws on the high speed dial to undo. use a 2mm hex key for that. then unscrew the hex in the centre of the low speed dial and then both dials will just come of easily.


3. Next remove the spring assembly and preload spacers. undo the cap on the top of the left leg. once done the spring just pulls out nice and easy with little mess.

Then move on to the tight side. unscrew and slowly and gently remove the mission control damper. make sure the floodgate is in the of position. all the way in so the oil can flow out.

Turn the fork upside down and remove all the oil.


4. Separating the lowers. Undo both hex bolts at the bottom of the fork but on the right leg the one with the now removed rebound dial leave the bolt in slightly as you need to use a rubber mallet or wooden hammer to tap the legs apart and they will just push the lowers apart.


5. Now remove the rebound valve and the push rod from the inside of the Stanchions.


6. Pop out the seal with a screw driver and give them a good clean. Use fork oil to clean everything. Push them back in by hand and lube them up with some rockshox red rum. about £5 for a tube.


7. Now push the stanchions back into the lowers and insert the rebound valve and the push rod back inside. Rescrew the bolts at the bottom of the fork to fasten the pushrod and rebound valve.


8. Now replace the oil. use a 5wt oil or 3wt if cold conditions. measure out 137ml and poor this into the right leg where the mssion control damper will go in.

Now slowly put the mission control damper back in. be careful not to damage anything. and now tighten up.

Put the spring back and righten up. almost done now.

Put the mission control knobs back on. start with the blue the the low speed silver dial and finaly the gate screw and tighten up.


9. Last bit. speed lube application is really easy. use 15wt oil for this. at the bottom of the fork on both side's where we drained the oil from in the 1st step.
fill up a searing with 20ml of oil (15wt) and screw into the holes and insert the oil. Replace the screws making sure the little rubber o-rings are still in. Thats it all done. clean up the fork remove all execs oil and your good to ride. For the 1st ride oil will appear on the stancions but its ok the seals are not leaking they are just lubricating properly.
